Mark Your Calendar: Larry’s Tips for a Successful Vegetable and Herb Garden

We are beyond excited to announce that the esteemed author, radio host, educator, and botanist extraordinaire, Larry Stebbins—also known as The Garden Father—is our first featured speaker!

Join us as we kick off our inaugural Talks and Tastings series at the Mid Shooks Run Community Garden. Larry Stebbins is a recognized expert in sustainable gardening practices who helped establish over 12 community gardens around the Pikes Peak region. Larry is a living legend who has dedicated his life to nurturing the earth and educating others. You can learn more about The Garden Father on his website (and by attending this event, where he has graciously agreed to share his knowledge with us).

We hope the Talks and Tastings series at Mid Shooks Run Community Garden will become a beloved event among our gardeners. Periodically, we’ll invite a knowledgeable speaker to discuss a garden-specific topic, ranging from composting techniques to heirloom seed saving. The goal is to help us deepen our understanding of sustainable gardening practices and inspire us to experiment with new ideas in our own plots. But what truly sets this series apart is the potluck component. All attendees bring a dish to share—bonus points if some of the ingredients are from the community garden!

The event is open to the public, and admission is free! However, there is one caveat in this series: attendees must bring a dish to share. Please write down the ingredients of your dish and bring it with you as an extra kindness to fellow attendees with dietary restrictions.

The potluck starts at 5:30 PM, followed by class at 6:00 PM sharp.
